On August 10th, HashiCorp made an important announcement, signaling a shift in its product licensing strategy. In the announcement, HashiCorp revealed its intention to change its source code license from Mozilla Public License v2.0 (MPL 2.0) to the Business Source License (BSL, also known as BUSL) v1.1 on all future releases of HashiCorp products.
You can read our initial response here.
Together, with our friends (and competitors) in the DevOps community, we’ve created the OpenTF Manifesto (opentf.org). This is a declaration and commitment from us (and dozens other companies and individuals) of continuing the work started long ago by HashiCorp, keeping Terraform open-source. Make the pledge at opentf.org.
To reiterate, you as a Terraform user, can continue to use env0 and Terraform without any changes. The proposed changes should only affect future releases of Terraform, whenever the license is updated.
If you have further questions please don’t hesitate to reach out - contact@env0.com or directly to your account manager.
